Warby Parker and Theophilio’s Retro-Futuristic Sunglasses Make a Bold Statement

Warby Parker and Theophilio's Retro-Futuristic Sunglasses Make a Bold Statement

Warby Parker and Theophilio, a brand based in New York, have teamed up to introduce their bold new sunglasses collection called Shaunie. This collaboration takes inspiration from the childhood of Theophilio’s designer, Edvin Thompson, particularly the fruit trees in his backyard in Jamaica.

The Shaunie collection comes in three lively colors: Shade, a sleek grey and black combo; Lemon Slice, a vibrant yellow and orange blend; and Sorrel, a striking green and red mix. This collaboration fits perfectly into Warby Parker’s summer lineup, offering sunglasses that are perfect for the sunny days ahead.

Priced from $145, each pair of these wide-frame sunglasses is made by layering opaque acetate over a crystal base and then carving it away to create a unique, futuristic design. This process results in a distinctive look that mixes styles from the 70s and 2000s.

Reflecting on the significance of the collection, Edvin Thompson mentions that these sunglasses feel like a memoir to him. They remind him of his youth and his parents while also representing his future as a designer.
